In General, the cough can help to keep clear throat from phlegm and other irritants. However, the persistent cough can also be symptoms of a number of conditions, such as allergies or viral infection or a bacterial infection. Sometimes a cough is not because of anything related to your lungs. Can also cause gastric reflux disease (GERD) cough. You can cure coughs due to colds, allergies, sinus infections with a number of drugs without a prescription. Infections will require antibiotics. Some natural therapies may help to relieve cough. However the U.S. food and Drug Administration (FDA) not to monitor the herbs and supplements, so that people who use them may be at risk of using low quality products and impurities. You must find people who want to use natural remedies to treat coughs. It should also be aware that certain herbs and supplements can interfere with medicines, which may cause unwanted side effects. Natural cough remedies:

1-Honey tea

How to Use:

Mix 2 teaspoons  with warm water or herbal tea. Drink this mixture once or twice a day. Remember that do not give honey to children under one year old.

2-Salt Water Gargle:

This simple treatment is one of the most effective remedy for sore throat and cough. Salt water reduces phlegm and mucus in the back of the throat which can reduce the need to cough.

How To Use:

Take half teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water until it dissolve then allow the solution to cool slightly before you use it to gargle. Let the mixture to stay in the back of the throat for a few moments before spitting on it. Gargle with salt water several times a day until he gets better cough.

Avoid giving salt water to younger children because they may not be able to properly gargle.  Swallow the salt water can be dangerous.


Mint leaves are well known for healing cough. Menthol in mint soothes the throat and work affectively to break down mucus. You can take benefit from drinking tea Mint or peppermint vapors inhalation steam bath.

How To Use:

To make the steam bath, add 3 or 4 drops of peppermint oil to every 150 ml of hot water. Drape a towel over your head and  take a deep breath directly above the water.


Ginger may mitigate dry cough or asthma because it  has anti-inflammatory components. It may also relieve the nausea and pain. One of the studies indicate that some anti-inflammatory components in ginger can relax the membranes in the Airways, which can reduce coughing.

How To Use:

Put 20-40 grams sliced fresh ginger to a cup of hot water. Wait  for a few minutes before drinking.  Also add honey or lemon juice to improve the taste and soothe a cough.

Be aware that, in some cases, ginger tea can cause stomach or heartburn.
